Miao Xiu (Miao Embroidery) - Textiles/Technique
JINLY reinterprets a centuries-old art form with our Miao Embroidery Linen vest—a wearable masterpiece that carries the soul of Chinese minority culture into contemporary wardrobes.
The Language of Needle & Thread
Miao embroidery isn’t merely decoration—it’s a visual language perfected over 1,500 years. Each symbolic motif tells part of the Miao people’s epic migration story. Crafted by Miao women in Guizhou’s misty mountains using techniques passed mother-to-daughter.
XIANG YUN SHA - Textiles/Technique
Xiang Yun Sha is a kind of silk fabric coated with the juice of a type of root plant - Dioscorea matsudae Hayata, followed by being covered with the mud of the river containing mineral substances, and then exposed to the sun. At present, Xiang Yun Sha (woven silk fabric) is mainly produced in Shunde, a city in southern China. The dyeing technique for Xiang Yun Sha is one of the national intangible cultural heritages of China.
Xiang Yun Sha is known as the "soft gold" in the textile industry. It is entirely handmade, including multiple processes such as soaking, sun-drying, sealing, cooking, mud covering, and water washing. The production process of Xiang Yun Sha is tedious and meticulous, and it takes at least half a year from fabric to clothing.
