Product description:
LUO SILK (罗): A 2,000-Year-Old Marvel of Chinese Textile Engineering - Textiles/Technique
Luo Silk is a diaphanous open-weave silk dating back to the Han Dynasty (206 BCE-220 CE), characterized by its diamond-shaped pores for airflow. These micro-pores measure 0.2-0.5mm for optimal airflow. It was worn exclusively by nobility, as Song Dynasty records show it was 3x more expensive than plain silks. Natural protein structure creates UV protection (UPF 30+). This silk can thermoregulate- as Hangzhou Textile Institute tests show, wearing it feels 5°C cooler than regular silk. Furthermore, it absorbs and evaporates sweat 3x faster than cotton. Last but not least, Luo is very durable, as loose weave structure resists tearing better than tight weaves.
SI JING JIAO LUO (四经绞罗)
The "four-warp twist weave" (四经绞罗) is one of the unique features of Luo, which creates a spring-like texture that stretches vertically. Required 19 steps to produce, four warp threads spiral around one weft, creating micro-ventilation channels. As tested in Palace Museum labs, this is the only silk that is light enough to float on rising steam.
This weaving textile allows maximum breathability with better coverage than sheer gauze.
